Their story.

Natalie and John are a nature-loving power couple. A husband-wife team on a mission.

They had begun building a great nature-tracking app, they'd secured funding, had put together a small but brilliant team to make it happen. With ambitions to become the Strava of the bird watching world, they looked to be in a great position but needed a refined brand and messaging strategy to get there.

The challenge.

The challenge was to develop a brand strategy to establish this tech-for-good start up as an attractive community and bird-tracking app for a young and nature-curious audience. Building upon an existing logo and bare-bones brand identity, the goal was to create a strong internal brand and consistent and visually appealing visual system that created an emotional connection to the target audience.

Having just launched in the UK market (since launched in South Africa and the US), we wanted to create a brand that was built on values that transcended borders and spoke to the desire to reconnect with nature and, ultimately, inspire people to fight to protect it.

 

The Outcome.

“On our journey we’ve learned how to identify and talk about all these underlying feelings that we had, really searching out the why, the mission, the purpose, and bringing that all together. Deep down we always knew what it was, but weren’t necessarily able to communicate it very well. I think it’s always been there, but now we’ve been able to really make it part of what we’re doing at Birda, which is great” says Natalie.

Working with Will has been really great, he’s guided us in really understanding the foundations of our brand and its story. It may seem “fluffy” but it has been invaluable.
